Well, this is something I never thought I'd say (since I don't really consider myself a traditional artist), but I'm having some of my work included in an art show!

The studio where I do stained glass is being featured at our local First Friday Art Walk this week, and I was asked to submit one or two of mine. I'm actually pretty excited! (Especially since I can't draw to save my life, but my glass panels tend to turn out well!)

Here's the one I thought I might submit: )

Around 4 AM when an unbelievable queasiness only allowed me to sleep for about two hours, I decided that today would have to be a sick day. At least it allowed me to get some fandom things done I'd been meaning to catch up on:

A message to anyone who has been nominated at [livejournal.com profile] tardos_treasure, starting today there are some lovely banners to go with your stories available at the community! A new set will be posted every day until all the banners are displayed.

Go and enjoy! (And don't forget to vote too!)

Just because fandom usually makes me feel better, I'm posting a link to my next submission for the [livejournal.com profile] danddtoon Summer Fic Fest.

This one is fanart, with no accompanying story. (But pictures are worth 1,000 words.)

This is the first of two D&DC Fic Fest challenges I signed up for today. The second will be up a little later. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: Based on characters and concepts owned by others. Written for fun, not profit.
Rating: G
Word Count: 100 each
Author's Notes: This is a series of drabbles written for the [livejournal.com profile] danddtoon Summer Fic Festival. The original prompt was Sheila & Bobby - sleepless night - "I miss her" given by [livejournal.com profile] realmlife. I actually took it a step further and did one for each of the kids, but the initial idea was what started the ball rolling. Thanks, dear!

Summary: Each of the Young Ones misses someone for a very good reason.

This one is for my dear friend [livejournal.com profile] zuul who did a lovely job on her first D&DC fic, Journey to Darkness. I still owe you a review through the end, but I wanted to get this posted:

A) because I promised you'd have one as soon as I read your story, and
B) because I enjoyed it so much. (It definitely made my late night of reading totally worth it.)

I hope you like it, sweetie. I couldn't decide which icon I preferred, so I posted three. (And every fic writer should have at least *one* icon that goes with a story!) *G*

I haven't posted anything stained glass-related in a long while. I was going through some of my archived posts and I couldn't believe I hadn't done this one yet. It's not only one of my favorites, but it's also the project that took the longest -- 9 months (though keep in mind I only do this once a week).

My mother wanted a Tiffany-style lampshade, and this was the result. I was very proud of this one. I even special ordered the base -- I liked the tree trunk look.

I've taken pictures of it with the flash, and without it:

The Lamp #1

The Lamp #2 (I like this shot.)

I've been asked if I would ever consider doing another. I answer that with a rousing: No! NO! Sweet holy Moses, NO!!

If I never have to try and solder glass over a curved Styrofoam mold again, it will be too soon. This one's one of a kind, babes.

Unless I change my mind someday. *snerk*

It's funny that I don't seem to have the inspiration or the patience to do these for my own stories! (Hee!)

This set is for [livejournal.com profile] r_scribbles, because she's written one of the most captivating D&DC epics I've read in a while. I still owe you feedback through Episode 6, but I couldn't resist making these first! This particular one is for That Same Old Magic, because I thought the screencaps I made went particularly well with that one.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I'm enjoying your story, sweetie! *hugs*

Some time ago, I made a movie-poster style piece of artwork to go with my latest D&DC story "Through a Mirror Darkly." I'd also cropped and rearranged it to make the icon that I'm using. Then, as many of you know, my computer crashed in May. There were a few choice things on my hard drive that I hadn't saved yet which fell victim to that calamity.

Hurrah! The icon was saved, because I was using it.

Alas! The "movie poster" was one of the casualties.

[livejournal.com profile] kenderkim suggested that I try again, so I sat down and tinkered with it for a while. It's still not turning out exactly the way I'd like, so I'll need a bit more time to work on it. In the meantime, however, I started to get inspired to do the same type of thing with other stories. What follows is the product of today's labors.

Now, I never claimed to be an expert at Photoshop. (I'll leave that to lovely, talented ladies like [livejournal.com profile] buttersideup, [livejournal.com profile] deathisyourart, [livejournal.com profile] awmp, [livejournal.com profile] sandy_s, and [livejournal.com profile] _jems_, to name only a few.) But D&D is a cartoon. I think I can at least manipulate PS enough to get a couple 2-dimensional animated characters to do what I want.

So this first set is for [livejournal.com profile] seal_girl - for her story "The Temple of Love" - because I've wanted to make her an icon since she asked about mine, because she's a new mom again and deserves a pretty gifty, because she cranks out D&D stories like a D&D-story-cranking machine, and because she's just a really terrific person.

Enjoy, sweetie! *hugs* I hope to put a few more together from time to time.

It's late and I'm feeling weird.

So I drew a pig.

You can too.

(And how long do they think a pig's tail should actually be? I mean really.)
