Okay, so The Stolen Earth. Whoa.
I've been enjoying this season overall, even if I haven't felt many urges to post about it. Donna is a breath of fresh air, and a nice fun departure from all the angst that seemed to crop up on the show since Ten first emerged. (If it wasn't twu-wuv angst, it was jealousy angst, or lonely angst, or bitterness angst, . . .) I probably haven't enjoyed an entire season overall since Eccleston was the Doctor.
Of course, now that the season's end is upon us, it brings up a lot more to post about. I should mention in advance that I'm unspoiled for the finale and am not an active enough member of fandom to have heard any theories besides my own. But I did have a few observations that I felt needed to be made.
Some of you may have your own ideas, so feel free to voice them if you like! But pretty please no actual spoilers. It's better not to know. :)
( First the general observations )
( And those wacky theories )

Vacay, here I come!
Jun. 16th, 2008 05:18 pmSince I'm going on vacation tomorrow, I've been a little behind on the things I wanted to do. (It's amazing how even all that free time doesn't seem to be enough once the summer starts.)
Tomorrow begins my annual trip to Phoenix -- yes, in the heat of summer! But this year my bestest friend is having a baby, and this will be the first opportunity I've had to see her since I found out she was pregnant. So, heat of Arizona, here I come!
I did manage to accomplish some things in the few days I've had off so far:
- Finished 15 credit hours for my pain-in-the-neck continuing education requirement. I managed to find some free online courses. Long, tedious, and sort of make me want to spork my eyes out, but at least I won't have to take full-blown graduate courses that I can't afford at the moment. Did I mention these were free? Only 46 hours left to go.
- *Finally* started reading
jimbutcher's latest, Small Favor. Like *that* didn't take an eternity to get around to! I should be able to finish it tomorrow on the plane. It's pretty good so far, but there's so much going on, so many characters popping in, and so many references made to the previous books that I read *so* long ago, that I'm finding it necessary to really go slowly with it -- if only to try and remember what the heck is going on.
- Started two fics and some art for the D&DC Summer Fic Festival. I actually sort of like them so far.
- Watched the BSG "mid-season" finale. ( Spoilers, naturally )
- Got caught up on Doctor Who, finally. I particularly enjoyed the two-parter. ( Re: Forest of the Dead )
- Went to see The Incredible Hulk this afternoon. ( Minor Spoilers )
- I went shopping for a gift for my friend's baby. Among a few other things I found what is probably the Most Adorable Book Series Ever! Forget the baby! I want to buy the rest of these for myself!
Probably the most important thing I still have to do:
- Finish beta'ing Chance's story! (I'll try to get some of that done tonight once I've finished packing.)
Hope everyone has a great week! I will be internet-less, so don't have too much fun without me. Be back next Tuesday! ♥

Fic: Here. After.
Sep. 7th, 2007 05:17 pmFic-wise, this is something a little off the beaten path for me. I just happened to discover it again while cleaning out some of my older files.
Doctor Who. (As in "Who'd have thought?") Not only that, but it's Ten-era, when I genuinely prefer Nine. Huh.
Anyway, I wrote this snippet over a year ago, the day after I watched "Doomsday." I'd intended to take it in a particular direction, then never did. But I think this part stands okay on its own. It feels a little unfinished, but maybe it's supposed to.
So, submitted for your approval, my first (and, very likely, only) Who-fic.
( It took Rose a few weeks to wonder if she might not be as alone as she thought. )
(I don't even have a Who user pic. But Firefly goes with everything! *G*)

So I finally managed to get my hands on (and watch) the first three episodes of Torchwood. ( In general, I'd have to say that I like it, even if there are some things that bug me. )
Definitely a fun show if you ignore the nagging details and just enjoy. (Plus, John Barrowman is just as yummy as ever.) I'll probably be watching a bit more. :)

DW: Army of Ghosts
Jul. 3rd, 2006 11:13 amI've had the episode lingering on my HD since Saturday night, but I ended up going to see The Devil Wears Prada that evening before I could watch it. (Cute movie. Not fabulous, but definitely enjoyable. Though it made me realize how much I need a room filled with designer clothes that I can wear for free where *I* work. Jeez.) We also had our holiday weekend picnic yesterday, so AoG had to wait until last night.
( Includes hypotheses as well as actual spoilers for the end of the season - because I did get spoiled for some things. )
