Since I'm going on vacation tomorrow, I've been a little behind on the things I wanted to do. (It's amazing how even all that free time doesn't seem to be enough once the summer starts.)

Tomorrow begins my annual trip to Phoenix -- yes, in the heat of summer! But this year my bestest friend is having a baby, and this will be the first opportunity I've had to see her since I found out she was pregnant. So, heat of Arizona, here I come!

I did manage to accomplish some things in the few days I've had off so far:

- Finished 15 credit hours for my pain-in-the-neck continuing education requirement. I managed to find some free online courses. Long, tedious, and sort of make me want to spork my eyes out, but at least I won't have to take full-blown graduate courses that I can't afford at the moment. Did I mention these were free? Only 46 hours left to go.

- *Finally* started reading [livejournal.com profile] jimbutcher's latest, Small Favor. Like *that* didn't take an eternity to get around to! I should be able to finish it tomorrow on the plane. It's pretty good so far, but there's so much going on, so many characters popping in, and so many references made to the previous books that I read *so* long ago, that I'm finding it necessary to really go slowly with it -- if only to try and remember what the heck is going on.

- Started two fics and some art for the D&DC Summer Fic Festival. I actually sort of like them so far.

- Watched the BSG "mid-season" finale. Spoilers, naturally )

- Got caught up on Doctor Who, finally. I particularly enjoyed the two-parter. Re: Forest of the Dead )

- Went to see The Incredible Hulk this afternoon. Minor Spoilers )

- I went shopping for a gift for my friend's baby. Among a few other things I found what is probably the Most Adorable Book Series Ever! Forget the baby! I want to buy the rest of these for myself!

Probably the most important thing I still have to do:

- Finish beta'ing Chance's story! (I'll try to get some of that done tonight once I've finished packing.)

Hope everyone has a great week! I will be internet-less, so don't have too much fun without me. Be back next Tuesday! ♥

Thank you so much for the lovely greetings yesterday. My flist is always so thoughtful. *hugs*

(Special hugs to [livejournal.com profile] sandy_s for the virtual balloons! Thank you! *G*)

It was a very nice day yesterday, although I didn't do much. (The family and I are doing an official b-day celebration for both me and my dad when my brother comes home next week.)

I actually received a card from several of my students (aka: those kids who I didn't think liked me very much). Of course, it was also the last day of the marking period, so maybe the bribes have begun.

I also meant to pick up the new Dresden Files book (which came out today), but I've been so bogged down with tests to correct I haven't gotten to Borders yet. Maybe tomorrow.

More hugs to all!

(And a blessed Passover to those who are celebrating!)

I didn't get to watch yesterday's episode of TDF until late today. (Throwing work-related responsibility to the wind on Saturday meant scrambling on Sunday...and several long hours dedicated to making the Mid Terms of Doom.) But I did get to watch my taped episode after work today. (Even though it was brought to my attention that it's available on YouTube.)

After seeing some of the reactions to the episode, I feel as though I may be in the minority again, but I'm starting to seriously love this show! )

In short, way better than the first episode. In fact, I think it's safe to say I loved it!

I'm still sick, and I need to get some rest before going to work tomorrow if I want to keep my sanity with The Little Darlings, but I had to post just a few first thoughts about Dresden on Sci Fi.

So, in general, I liked the premiere a lot. I'm definitely eager to see how the season continues.

I've *got* to get to bed, but I wanted to share this with anyone who, like me, is anticipating the premiere of the new Dresden Files series on the Sci Fi Channel.

[livejournal.com profile] priscellie and [livejournal.com profile] kalium were kind enough to collaborate and get the promo uploaded on YouTube.

Looks fantastic! Plus, Priscellie is absolutely right: Paul Blackthorne is *absolutely* tapping his inner James Marsters when doing Harry's voice! Give a listen!

Whee! A drive-by post in between work and Mock Trial practice! (Again.) *headdesk*

But the good news is the new cover art for The Dresden Files Book 8, Proven Guilty has been posted on [livejournal.com profile] jimbutcher's site. I like it, though I'm just a tad disappointed that it's so similar to last year's Dead Beat. Still, May's only 5 months away, baby!

I'd also like to extend a very warm hello to [livejournal.com profile] jebbypal! Very nice to meet you, dear! :)

I'd been meaning to write a review of [livejournal.com profile] jimbutcher's Dead Beat ever since I – against my common sense – stayed up an extra few hours to finish it this past Sunday night. As a result, I've been dragging at work this week, and haven't quite caught up on the sleep I lost. But, honestly, it was worth it.

Read at your own risk; here there be spoilers!

I stopped at Borders today to check if the new Dresden Files book was in as early as I'd heard. Oh, yeah, baby -- only one (on the shelf, anyway) and it's mine, mine, mine!

Will be reading like a book glutton now.
