Hershey was fun, . . . aside from a few snags. Seems a handful of sophomores felt that, "Please check in with me right here at 1:00" meant:

A) Only if they felt like it.
B) As long as they weren't eating.
C) They could check in with any teacher, anywhere, at any time.
D) As long as they told another student to tell me (s)he saw them.
E) I probably wasn't really talking to them anyway.

Needless to say, when I finally did catch up to them in the park, I was less than happy. They actually acted all affronted when I dared to speak harshly to them about it. But, honestly, not only do they need to learn to budget their time better, but they've got to learn a little common courtesy. I did wait an extra half-hour for them to show up at the predetermined place. Twice. (Only to have them never actually show up.) Which resulted in me:

A) Wasting more than an hour's worth of my afternoon
B) Being unable to meet up with the fellow colleagues that I was supposed to be hanging out with for the day. Which, in turn, meant that I . . .
C) Spent the majority of the afternoon alone until I could find someone from my group.

And would you believe they actually had the nerve to ask that, since I just saw them, were they required to come to the next meeting point? Sorry, kiddies. If I'm going to waste more than two half-hours of my afternoon waiting for you, then you are going to make the small effort it takes to check in when and where I say. (The sad thing was, if they hadn't gotten so huffy and bent out of shape over why I was mad, I probably would have said sure. Some kids just don't learn when it's not a good time to try to get the last word.)

In other Hershey news, today was the first beautiful day (weather-wise) that we've had in more than a week. So, naturally, I got a sunburn. Which means I'll have a lovely farmer's tan for the wedding I'm going to this weekend. (Guess it's not too late to change my mind about the sleeveless dress I was going to wear.)

Also, when we went past one of the park's Subways, the company's spokesman Jarod was there. That was pretty neat. He signed autographs for three of my students. Aw, come on! Who can't help but be a tiny bit starstruck, even by minor celebrities?

I'm off to Pittsburgh sometime tomorrow afternoon for my roommate's wedding. I plan on bringing the laptop, just in case there's wireless cable in the rooms or if I end up with enough free time to work on my story. In case I don't get to sign on before Sunday night, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
