sharelleSeems there's been a rush on the salons lately. (Must be the holidays.) During the last week alone, several people on both my LJ and RL flists have had something done with their hair...now, including myself. Trip #2 to New Stylist went very well, and I even went so far as to try getting my color done this time. And let me tell you, that place is posh. I mean, I knew it was a salon and a spa, but I guess I hadn't appreciated the full magnitude of it the last time I went. Then, it had just been for a trim. This time, as I was sitting in the back room with the comfy chairs and the foils in my hair and the classical Christmas music filtering over the satellite radio station, and New Stylist actually asked me if I'd like a glass of wine while I waited for the color to dry.
Whoa. I think I finally got it. Ritzy. (I kinda liked it. *G*)
She also dried it poker-straight, which I'd never tried before. I was surprised by how much I liked that too. (I didn't think I had the face for it.) My hair has always given me grief -- regardless of how many people have told me how lucky I am to have it. Super thick and heavy with a natural wave equals pretty high maintenance, but it's been loads better since I started wearing it shoulder-length and shorter. (My teeth have always been my favorite part of me -- no braces, never had a cavity, always been pretty white -- but I gotta say, my hair's now starting to move up in the ranks!) I don't have a photo aside from this icon -- my students are far toonosy computer savvy for me to ever post a full piccie of myself on the internet (in fact it was that paranoia that led me to alter my pen name at FF.Net) -- but the new hair really does look cute. *G*
Prompted by these random musings and nap-induced wide-awake-ness, I thought I'd ask a question to anyone who feel like giving their own ego a bit of a stroking:
What do you like best about yourself? What's your very favorite feature (physically or otherwise)? Is there something about you that others compliment you on often? Anything of that nature. Don't be shy! Say something nice about you!
