I was going to wait and post on this episode later since I'm totally and completely tired, but oh, my dear lord!

And once again, it's not until the episode is nearing its end that something truly unforgettable happens.

First off, Joy looking for a job at Happy Time just knocked me right over! Probably one of the reasons I got so impatient with this episode overall was because I just wanted George to get a move on with Nina the Forgetful and get the heck over to work! (I had a feeling it wouldn't happen tonight, though.) Not only do I anticipate many glorious angsty moments between mother and daughter in the workplace, but I need to get a long-standing question answered . . . .

In the Pilot, Mason pointed out the images of George and himself projected through a video camera. Of course, their appearances were very different and he explained that those are their outward faces as seen by the living. In more recent episodes, there has been some evidence to the contrary. Most recently, and probably most notably, was during Rube's trip to the records room. When the teenaged kid who was helping him pulled that Wanted poster from Rosie's box, he commented on how the picture there looked just like Rube. Technically, that shouldn't be, since the reapers are supposed to look differently to the living. Now, I had heard that this particular plot point was getting phased out, due to the writer who came up with the concept leaving the show, but if that's true, then how does it explain Dolores not being able to distinguish between George and "Millie?" And George has run into, or spoken with, members of her family at various points as well, each of them being none the wiser. My own personal theory to straighten this out is that the difference in appearance only holds true for a certain amount of time. Someone like George, and to a lesser extent, Mason, might need to wear a different face because their deaths were more recent. Someone like Rube, who has been dead for over 80 years, is certainly less likely to run into anyone he knows -- maybe his former appearance is allowed to return after a while.

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing George's reaction to Joy at Happy Time. I wasn't too disappointed over not seeing it tonight, though. I was too charmed by Yeardley "Lisa Simpson" Smith's guest appearance. Natural Causes Division may be a "nice gig," but she's apparently put in her time with Rube's crew at Der Waffle Haus.

As for tonight's biggie . . . whoa.

It's not their job to drop the piano...but that doesn't stop Mason from braining Ray to death with a mirrored platter. Ever since Roxy shot that girl who murdered the singer a few weeks ago, I'd wondered what would happen if one of the Reapers was a direct cause of someone's death -- and not in the "they happened to effect the series of events just by being there" capacity. At first, I'd wondered if Ray might not really be dead, since there was never a post-it or any kind of preliminary warning. (Of course, Rube may actually have known about it - the death, if not the cause - ahead of time.) Then, when Ray starts to convulse, I thought we'd catch a glimpse of something else we hadn't seen -- what happens when a soul goes to Hell. Everyone up to this point (that we've seen, anyway) has gone to some idyllic personal Heaven. What would happen to a violent abuser like Ray? The fact that a Graveling emerged from his body instead of a soul leads to far more questions. We know what happens to a soul if no one takes it from George's experiences last season, but what would happen to his soul if no one is assigned to it? Is there a disruption to some kind of order? Or is there some truth to the rumor that George's frog is an embodiment of the first Reaper? (They did seem to focus on the animal quite a bit for no reason.) Mason with a purple post-it next week? And only 3 episodes left?

Ack! I'm dyin' here!

If only I didn't hate "texting." I would so be talking to Callum Blue right now!
