Teaching Job Offer

My school district called just now to offer me a job.

MY job.

As in, the same job I've been doing for them for 6 years.

After I got off the phone with the (very embarrassed) personnel secretary, I couldn't help but wonder: I do still have a job, right?
Followed by: Why is my name still apparently on the hiring list?
And finally: At least they were trying to fill my position with me and not with someone else.

Most. Bizarre. Thing. Ever.

that is completely bizarre. correct me if i'm wrong, but should they be looking for anyone period? i hope you can get to the bottom of this, this is weeeeird.

Yes, could be there's bad news and good news here. The bad news is: they're looking to fill my job. The good news is: apparently I'm still the best one for it!

One of my co-workers said that when our new principal sent our schedules to personnel, they may have accidentally called to offer jobs instead of filing the paperwork. I'm dying to find out now, though!

So weird, right?! I did talk to the head of my department earlier, and she said she'd look into it. (If I was furloughed and not told about it, at least they were good enough to offer me my job back! *eyeroll*)
