This episode left me with one hope...

That the little cracks between the timelines are some hint that they are converging and that SOMEHOW we'll get some sort of happy ending in the long run because HOLY CRAP!

Sayid! Sun! Jin! The Dude! Lapidus!

No! No! No!

Seriously, the heartbreak of this episode is off the scale!

Jin and Sun finally find each other only to die together and their daughter is now an orphan! Lapidus goes out like a Red Shirt! Sayid dies proving he's still a good guy which makes his death (after everything he's been through) super tragic! Hurley losing his sh*t on the beach over the whole thing!

(Jack's line: "There IS no Sayid!" killed me! Killed me dead!)

With only two episodes to go before the finale, this better be the moment where everything gets horribly, horribly worse before it ultimately gets better!

Please, Show!

SidewaysVerse!Locke mumbling about pushing a button has got to mean there's a way to get my favorite characters back!

*sniff sob*

(And where the heck did Miles, Richard, and Ben go?)

Plotting wise, that's where we should be two eps before the end, it's the moment where everything looks...well...lost.

I've been convinced all season that the only way off the island is death. The happy endings are in the sideways!Verswe. And we'll see it when all the characters somehow manage to connect.

In the island!verse? DOOM!!!

Still, Hurley's sobs gutted me.

Gutted me!

I know! It's awful! And after tonight's episode I'd be more than inclined to agree with you about death being the only way off the island.

Unless, like Jack, a conscious decision is made not to leave at all. (I'm sort of thinking he might be the one to take Jacob's place.)

Still, I WANT to see a happy ending for the characters I've become invested in! Seeing them live happily in the SidewaysVerse (for as fun as that storyline can be in many cases - i.e. Miles/Sawyer Buddy Cops!) is a little unsatisfying for me. Because THOSE aren't the characters I've grown to love. They resemble them, but they aren't them.

I want the Kwans to go back to their daughter! I want Desmond and Penny back together! I want Sayid to continue to be his sexy self! I even want Real!Locke to come out on top for a change, dammit!

I actually think it is them. That's part of the reason that Desmond is going around causing them to remember. These are the same characters given another chance at another life.

I'm pretty sure that the only happy endings to be had are in the Alt_Verse. And I'm betting just about everyone dies.

While I think you're right, I also think the only way I'll really be satisfied with an Alt-Verse happy ending is if they all become aware on some level of what happened in the Island-Verse. There are cracks, and I'm hoping that develops.

I really hope there's some kind of merging too! They've got to be going somewhere with the sidewaysverse. They've put these characters through so much that I really hope there'll be some way for everyone to be happy in the end.

I still can't believe they just killed off four major characters in one blow though... And Sun and Jin were just too sad for words. ;_;

Stupid Sawyer, this is all his fault. If only he'd just listened to Jack for once in his life.

In Sawyer's defense, the last time he followed a Jack plan, Juliet died.

Yeah, that's true. I actually didn't even remember about that until after I hit the post button. So I guess it's understandable that Sawyer doesn't trust him. Still doesn't make me any less mad at him though. :\

THERE IS NO SAYID ONLY ZUUL.

The Kwons' hands falling apart under water? I shed a tear.

Hurley starts blubbing? Like a child, I wept.

Jears? Wiped my eyes and tutted at him.

LaPenis catching a door to the head made me sad, but this episode killed off him along with three of the core cast since S1 within the same 10 minutes, so it's understandable he only got a moment. Sayid's death... bah. What's been done to his character this season has sucked big time. It actually made me not care so much that he got a Data Death, which is dreadful because he was such a brilliant character. Poot.

Ever since the timelines split I've had a little theory that the Island is the misplaced reality, just playing itself out to its end and once everyone's dead, it'll cease to be. Des is helping the Sideways People become aware of their Island selves so that their Island selves can live on in them, although it seems that having died already on the Island helps people feel more aware of their Island lives.

No Benj at all in that episode! Normally I would be grumbling 'hhhhhWhere is Ben?' at the screen, but I forgave this week its Benlessness. Hopefully he'll show up next week with armfuls of explosives, although I fear for him, Ricardo and Miles. Especially Miles. Although after this week, I reckon all bets are off as to who'll make it to the end, with the exception of Jack and Mocke

I like the theory that the timeline split means the IslandVerse is just winding to an end. I even have to wonder if someone (Jack?) will realize that if any of the candidates replace Jacob the cycle between him and FLocke will continue forever. Perhaps, once everyone else is (inevitably) dead, he (Jack?) will do something to end it all. Then the Sideways people will finally be fully aware of everything that happened.

But that theory means I'll have to see Hurley die. And I honestly don't know if my mighty heart can take that sort of pain.

At least Ben's absence in IslandVerse has finally been explained. He's caught word that there's a cute baby girl orphan out there & scampered off to Korea post haste, along with the forged last will & testament of the Kwons and adoption papers.
