I realize that I'm probably the last person to be learning this today, but the new teaching job no longer affords me the opportunity to use the internet at work.

Seriously, an actual newsletter went out with the title "Big Brother is Watching You," detailing how the district monitors all computers and websites that are accessed from each computer in each building. Granted, that's probably more because of the students, but still . . . So, basically it means I pretty much stay away from anything that's not related to the district's email system, or the school's grading program. Thus, no LJ or fandom-related surfing. It probably wouldn't be a big deal; I just don't feel like dealing with it later.

But I digress.

As a result, I'm not surprised I didn't hear about the announcement concerning the new title of Harry Potter Book 7 until after I returned home.

Traditionally, I've never gotten over-excited over JKR's title choices - although I've grown interested in them during the course of reading each book. (With the possible exception of Order of the Phoenix; I thought that was pretty nifty from the start. *G*) In fact, I usually don't start getting intrigued by the titles at all until after I have the volume in hand and am in the midst of discovering why it's important to the story. Therefore, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," while interesting in that "ooh, this is going to be dark" sort of way, is not invoking the squee-fest in me that I'm seeing elsewhere.

It is nice, however, to have reached one of those final hurdles that will lead to the book's release. Now, when *that* is announced, then you'll see me getting much more excited! :)

ETA: By the way, I know I can't be among the only ones who don't believe JKR is "still writing" the book. Polishing it up, I'll buy, but I can't see her dropping as many hints as she has over the years if she *didn't* have at least the bulk of Book 7 written already.

Nods. She's probably been pruning and polishing this on and off since the first book.

Absolutely! You can't release a saga that big without having a solid idea of where it was going. And with all those (seemingly insignificant) details to pull together . . .
