Full-Contact Canoes

Not sure if I'm making a mistake here, but I signed up for another canoe race on Sunday, this time with the folks from FEX. Valerie and I are going to be the official women's team and John is lending us his racing canoe. ("Like lightning," he says.) Trouble is, he's pretty gung-ho about us coming in with a trophy of some sort. I'd love that, but since it's a different kind of canoe than I'm used to (and I have to paddle from the rear since Val doesn't know how, which I'm also not used to), it may not go as smoothly as he envisions. 11 miles this time, and so far it looks like it will be a nice day. Should be fun either way.
Mark said that since we're a bunch of fencers involved in this race, we should engage in some river piracy. Some full-contact Buccaneers-Meet-American-Gladiator strategies -- bring our swords, wear eye patches, growl "arrrgh" every few yards, try to board other canoes. You know, normal stuff.
Yes, I think a good time will be had by all.
