I definitely found some inspiration there. But just as the Megamind film inverted some of the norms of the superhero genre, I wanted to do the same type of thing with this story - take a familiar element and sort of put a different twist on it. (The bad guy had to be somebody's hero! Or there'd be no up-and-coming baddies!) But the thing with Owen - and something I mention in the next chapter - is that once he's finally gotten his idol's attention, it may not be the kind of attention he wants. Especially now that his former idol is now gunning for him. So he'll have to take a few drastic steps.
It pleases me to no end that you think the story is worthy of a re-read, hon! Probably one of the best comments I've gotten so far! :D
