This is the first of two D&DC Fic Fest challenges I signed up for today. The second will be up a little later. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: Based on characters and concepts owned by others. Written for fun, not profit.
Rating: G
Word Count: 100 each
Author's Notes: This is a series of drabbles written for the [livejournal.com profile] danddtoon Summer Fic Festival. The original prompt was Sheila & Bobby - sleepless night - "I miss her" given by [livejournal.com profile] realmlife. I actually took it a step further and did one for each of the kids, but the initial idea was what started the ball rolling. Thanks, dear!

Summary: Each of the Young Ones misses someone for a very good reason.

( Missing Her ) (The cut, she is fake.)

They really can. One would think that colleagues, who know the kind of work that goes into maintaining a classroom, would keep that in mind when they are using one belonging to someone else.

Unfortunately, it seems that some are of the mind that: "If it's not my classroom, it's not my problem."

They held summer school in my building this year, and I went to my room today for the first time since June. It was a mess, and sadly probably would have been more so had I not locked most of my things away for the summer. As it was, any cabinet or drawer that was incapable of being locked had been ransacked. All my chalk was gone, the tub of "sticky-stuff" I use to hang posters had been used up and its contents stuck to the walls like spitballs, one of my decorations had been torn down and thrown into a corner. Some of the things I had ordered for my classroom for this coming year had been opened (!) and taken. (Half my black markers - from an unopened, sealed container - are missing.) My closet had been unlocked (yes, it was previously locked!), and items inside had been used and misplaced.

I couldn't stay more than an hour because I was so frustrated at the sheer amount of work I now have ahead of me. I just didn't want to look at it any more.

(I'd like to say something to the teacher who used my room, but he doesn't work in my building so I'm not sure how to approach the matter other than emailing him with a big WTF?)

Just because fandom usually makes me feel better, I'm posting a link to my next submission for the [livejournal.com profile] danddtoon Summer Fic Fest.

This one is fanart, with no accompanying story. (But pictures are worth 1,000 words.)

Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] petzipellepingo, here is something else that has helped to improve my mood a bit.

A slightly spoilery peek at Heroes Season 3 )
