A friend of mine has tickets to the Kerry/Edwards rally downtown this afternoon. So I guess we're going to go.

Should be interesting.

The rally was interesting, and (aside from some relatively minor discomfort) I was pretty glad I went. I admit I was a bit more impressed with Kerry than I was before, so it'll give me some food for thought come the elections.

I'm not feeling at my best right now. Currently, I am sunburned on only one side of my face (with a lovely little half-moon ring from my sunglasses) due to standing in 80+ degree heat with no shade. (Several people passed out around me. There's Democratic dedication!) My feet are now punishing me severely -- since we were there from noon until about 6 o'clock. We were absolutely shoulder to shoulder and I seriously contemplated going nuts on several occasions. A bug bite on my ankle made the whole thing swell up, and now one leg looks like a small tree trunk. And the rain didn't start until the end. Frankly, I would have welcomed it. But I'm glad I opted for shorts and didn't wear my dressier pants. I may have been swooning on the courthouse lawn if I had.

Got to meet Tom Brokaw, which was neat. Didn't quite get the lusty glimpse of Ben Afflek that I would have liked. (Though I've learned to accept that I'm eternally doomed to never meet celebrities that I lust after. It's my curse.) I'm annoyed that I asked Bob's cousin to take a picture with my camera (since she had the better vantage point), then she proceeded to use the entire roll of film taking pictures of herself with various celebrities and politicians who came her way. (Including the yummy -- and extremely nice -- André Heinz, who was within posing distance of me but *ahem* I didn't have my freaking camera!) When she finally returned it (with two pictures left), she had the nerve to ask if I'd give her doubles of the prints. (Um, no.)

I could pass out right now, but the little girl from next door came over dying to do a jigsaw puzzle, so I must now clear the table. Plus, Vicky wants to catch the 10:35 show of "The Village" after she gets out of work, so there'll be no rest for me right now.

EDIT: Well, obviously not going to the movie since Vicky never returned my call. Guess I'm off to bed then.
