Thanks for giving us a look at how "past" Spike is experiencing all of this. He's done quite well with very little evidence, hasn't he? Sharp Spike! And his interaction with unknown/knowing Fred is convincing and intriguing. She knows him very well; he doesn't know her at all. He hasn't quite figured out that if he's in the future, a future Spike is in the past. But I wouldn't put it past him to work that out, too.
I too have had to cut back on my writing--not because of the school year, since I no longer teach for pay, but because of the demands on time and energy of work. I trust we both will find our balance and be able to forge on. And then I can read your forging! Looking forward to that!
