Death Defying

There were so many awesome parts to tonight's episode, I know I'm going to miss a few things. (That's what I get for not taping it.)
* I loved Eric McCormick's character. (Though it was strange to see him not only as straight, but as a womanizer no less!) Poor Daisy, Daisy Adair. Looking for love in all the wrong places -- though she did handle herself well with him. Mason, however, wasn't handling things quite as well. I admired his concern for George, though I'm sure a lot of it was just a cover for his jealousy of the potential Daisy/Ray hookup. He enjoys her epic movie-set "romance" stories, but doesn't want to see her live one under his nose. And there's something so cute about him when he's all serious. *g* Don't worry, my Mason. Things are sure to be short-lived between Daisy and Ray. That line from the beginning of the episode, in regards to George and her love interest, just kept coming back to me as a paralleling idea -- he's alive.
* It seems that all the reapers want to cling to the world of the living in some way or another (whether it be by relationship or by not letting their past - and family ties - die. More on that shortly!)
* I still think a relationship with a living character on the show wouldn't be a bad idea and would add a whole new depth to everything. I'm still holding out for Trip to re-enter the picture. (Love-'em and leave-'em just didn't seem to fit his character. He'll at least come back to offer an explanation. Whether George accepts it is another story, but I do feel the potential for a really great story arc is there. Someone just has to run with it.)
* I like how George is starting to see Dolores as a kind of surrogate mother-figure. At the beginning of the episode she tried to talk herself out of confessing her loss of virginity to the woman, saying that it would be too much like talking to her mom. At the end, when she is in jail, she says that the first logical person to call would be her mother -- someone who would make everything all right again. Then who does she use her one phone call to contact? Stand-in mom, Dolores (who, like a mom, drops what she is doing, even going so far as to sacrifice her own enjoyment, to help her "adopted" daughter). It was a very sweet connection.
* Rube James Sofer. A wanted man, huh? I guess that explains where that envelope of money came from, as well as why he was forced to be separated from his wife and daughter. Every time something new happens with Rube I just feel so accomplished, like a puzzle is being solved, since he is the most elusive character on the show. As Roxy said, "that man has secrets."
* And how about Roxy trying to fill in so perfectly for him in his absence? Even going so far as to call George "Peanut," something which Rube, himself, hasn't even done in a while.
* I liked Angelo, though I still think there's something up with him. (God, do I suspect everybody of something on this show?!) But I think bringing him back at all means he's got a special role to play somehow. (He could have very easily been filed under "one-shot" as far as his character goes.) I just thought the fact that he seemed to know about Joy's and Reggie's Lab a few weeks ago, when all they ever told him was that they had a dog, was slightly on the mysterious side. (Any relation to the Pet Reaper, I wonder?) Or maybe I'm just chasing reaper conspiracy theories again! (Heck, I thought the grocery guy was suspicious. *g*)
* George's brief karaoke bit -- yeah, I know it was supposed to be sad for her, but I couldn't help laughing at that part!
* Yeah, Joy wants Clancy back. Angelo or not, it was just too obvious. (That's okay, though. Angelo can come stay with me if he's sad. Yay for being a gentleman! Maybe men only think of one thing, like Ray said, but at least some are still gallant about it. *VBG*)
* Speaking of Ray's theory on men, his was pretty interesting. (Only want one thing, fall in love with you before they get it, then conveniently out of love after....) Just the fact that he mentioned love at all.
* Also funny: The actress who plays Crystal also doing double-duty as her own "boyfriend." And Kiffany abolsutely unfazed by anything. ("We're fresh out [of revenge]. Can I get you something else?")
Some nights I really love this show!
