This morning, I actually finished the latest OoJ chapter that I'd been working on. (Happily, I've managed to get few chapters ahead of my postings.) So, to celebrate, here's more of Chapter 8. (Hugs to makd.)

I've left my Reversed Art-A-Thon fic alone for a few days as I powered through my inspiration for this one. Maybe now I can get back to that, too!

Here is the first of what will probably be three sections of Chapter 8. Thanks again to the wonderful makd, especially with this chapter, which had indeed left me with one or two headaches. (I decided to axe that awkward part I mentioned. I think it sounds better this way.) All the best in the coming days; I'll be thinking of you, dear.

I wanted to post some of what I’ve been working on, even if it is just once scene. Partly to make me feel some sense of accomplishment in getting back to normal after the major laptop crash, but mostly as a thanks to the people who have been stopping by to comment on this story lately. I’d hate to leave you hanging too long while I got my act together.

First of all, a very, very warm hello to new friends! If you’re here for the story, welcome! I hope it continues to please. (And a big, huggy thank you to thedeadlyhook for what was probably one of the nicest recs ever!)

This section was a few days later than planned due (as most of you know) to unexpected laptop crashage. It will also be a short while before the next update, since I’m going to need to rebuild some of my files when the computer is returned to me. However, I’m already picking away at it the old fashioned way – pen-to-paper. (I have a very set direction in which I hope to take this, and I don’t want to lose momentum.)

So when my computer comes back from the dead, if it’s corporeal enough, I’ll be getting right back to work. In the meantime, here is the last segment of Chapter 6. Enjoy! (Thank you again, makd for your generous assistance.)

( Out of Joint Chapter 6 – Part 3 )

This one is really short, but I have a few minutes to spare before company comes over, so I cleaned up and coded this little scene. Originally, I'd planned on including it together with the last half of the chapter. However, since the last scene is much longer, I didn't have time to do both. So expect the last section of Chapter 6 in another day or so.

I've also made a few edits to the beginning segment of this chapter. It changes nothing in the grand scheme of the story, but it does clean up the wording of a few sentences I still wasn't quite happy with. If you missed it, you can find it here. Well, here is the first half of the fruits of my weekend's labor -- including one night of very little sleep. Whee! (It actually felt pretty good. I should totally do that again!) The next part should just be a few days, after I've had the chance to re-read and code it.

( Out of Joint Chapter 6 – Part 1 )

I found it hard to believe that it's been more than a month since I last updated this story. It really doesn't feel like that long, but the past few weeks have gone by in a bit of a haze – though not necessarily in a good way. I'm starting to feel better little by little, however, and as a result, since last weekend, I've started picking away at writing again.

I actually have most of the next chapter for this written as well, though I'm not wholly certain of how satisfied I am with it. This scene is very short, and there are parts (one paragraph in particular) that I'm still not happy with, but it does close out Chapter 5 and set the stage for Buffy to really enter the story. As usual, I may do some editing later, although I hope people enjoy what is here.

( Out of Joint Chapter 5 – Part 2 )

Since I received the call that there may be a decision regarding our school by tomorrow, I figured I'd better post this now. I'm not sure how ready it is, but if the news is bad, I may not have the ambition or the the inspiration to write anything for a while. If the news is good, however (*crosses fingers*), I should be able fix any roughness in this section and add to it fairly quickly.

I'd also hoped to have the story beta'ed beginning with this part, but, again, I was afraid that after tomorrow there might be a chance I wouldn't feel much like working on it. So here is what I have been working on -- the next section of Out of Joint for those of you who have been following it. (Though if the kindly soul who offered to possibly beta has the time and is feeling up to it, I'd still appreciate your thoughts and input. Editing in LJ is a simple thing. Thank you all muchly for your patience. This scene is a bit rough (and includes what are probably more italics than I really need), but not too bad overall.
