Yesterday I found out that my favorite restaurant closed down. For good.

I'm not talking about "ranks-among-my-favorites-because-they-have-pretty-good-food" restaurant. I have a number of those. I'm talking about my Favorite Restaurant of All Time restaurant. Closed for good.

A friend of mine went there not too long ago to see a sign on the door that said (and I'm paraphrasing here, since I didn't see it myself): We've retired. Closed permanently.

WHA--? HUH--? GUH--?!?!

I knew the people who owned it pretty well (they were the parents of a girl I knew when I was in high school), but not well enough that I know how to get in touch with them now. I'm just bummed that the last time I was there (which was several weeks ago) they didn't tell me they were retiring. I would have loved to go one last time.

When you're talking about your Favorite Place Ever, it's hard to imagine I'll Never Have That Again.

I know it's just a restaurant, but am I crazy for being so sad about this? `Cause I am.

*mopes*

In happier news, I did another 15 mile run this morning. I was shooting for 20, but we had to return early because Dad had an afternoon commitment.

I did, however, shave 20 full minutes off my last 15-miler. And I actually *don't* feel like I'm about to fall apart. (Plus my sinuses are clearing.)

Wow. I didn't think improvement like that happened to real people. *G*

Ack! Two in the same year? That *would* suck horribly!

I know restaurants come and go, but, since human beings get such comfort from food, it feels like a very real loss when something like that is taken away.

Well one was because the owner was the perpetrator in a hit and run accident. Very very stupid and very sad the employees didn't have the cash to keep the place going.

Ooh, that is sad. (On many levels -- for both patrons and workers.)
