Well, I had quite the surprise on Saturday evening. The folks and I headed up to the Poconos for the Cyndi Lauper concert and I must say, she was absolutely phenomenal! Really, really a dynamic performer. (Though certainly a security nightmare! -- What, with how she was constantly running through the audience, dancing on chairs, and singing from the lower balcony railing.) I hadn't expected to enjoy myself as much as I did. I mean, I always liked her music, but to see her live is something entirely different. (I'm willing to bet there aren't many people who can get nearly the entire male portion of the audience dancing to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." *g*)

From where we were sitting (basically in the loges), we could look down onto the stage. Mom had the foresight to bring theatre glasses, so we could even read the set list. Awesome seats, awesome show. Definitely one I would see again.

(The opening act was Nellie McKay. Very talented on the piano -- loads of nervous energy when it came to speaking to the audience. But she wasn't bad, either. Clever jazzy style, with some of the most interesting lyrics I've heard in a while!)
