The Good
- I love my new solid shampoos from Lush. They make my hair smell so pretty!

- The first weekend of '09 and I have 10 miles under my belt. (It's a marathon year again!)

- I have leftover Thai for lunch tomorrow.

- I'm greatly enjoying the book I'm currently reading. (Too bad the time I have to read it is about to be drastically reduced!)

- I received a few submissions for [livejournal.com profile] tardos_treasure. Very few, but still - it's a start! When I get a few more, I'll get a master list of nominees up and running.

The Bad

- I have to go back to work tomorrow. (Yeah, that pretty much tops it.)

- Do I even remember what I was working on with my students?

The Whiny (Or is it "wine-y?")

- Someone opened a bottle of wine that I had been saving, and now it's nearly gone.

The final chapter of Balance of Power has just gone up at The Virtual Realm. I'm thrilled to have finished, but I also have one of those sad-accomplished feelings that tend to come with completing a story I've enjoyed writing.

Good thing I have a few more WIPs on the table! :)

In other news, I found a vid that I had to share with my D&DC friends (or with anyone who remembers or enjoyed the cartoon). If you haven't seen this one yet, definitely watch!

There have been several outstanding D&DC vids made by the likes of [livejournal.com profile] seal_girl and [livejournal.com profile] fayzalmoonbeam - I could be here all night linking to those (and perhaps that's not a bad idea sometime!) But I'm posting this one now because it's by someone I don't think I know . . . and because it's that good. (Although if it's any of you in disguise, give a shout because this vid is awesome!)

I've also never embedded anything before. So this is equal parts YouTube experiment for me.

I'm a doof.

A few days ago I posted an mp3 for those interested, since I'm still all about my friends giving Pushing Daisies a try when it airs this fall.

Naturally, I chose DragonCon weekend to do so -- otherwise known as "The Weekend My Flist is Most Likely to Be Away."

So I'm trying this again.

Follow the link if you're interested -- or even if you just like free music.

(And don't forget, that other thing is still available. *subtle wink nudge shove*)

I hope all my friends who went to the Con had a fantastic time! *hug*

Hey, friends list!

Just in case you missed my first post on why you should watch Pushing Daisies, I'm back again to remind you!

The song that plays in the show's trailer (I think it's the second clip by now.) caught my attention, so naturally I went looking for it. Now I offer it for your listening pleasure:

Life is Beautiful by Vega 4

It's pretty. (Kinda has that Snow Patrol sound to it.)

And if you missed my previous post on the subject, there are plenty of other reasons to watch Pushing Daisies listed there. And a few other little incentives and gifties. So follow the link above!

Enjoy!

It's back to lesson plans with me! :)

As I mentioned a few days ago, there was a lot of talent on display in the D&DC fandom. I wanted to take a moment to finally gush properly over the challenges that were fulfilled for me.

Challenge-y Goodness! )

I hope to discuss more of the challenges later, but for now these were the ones done for me. Did I have the bestest Christmas ever? I think so! :)

For those members of my flist who frequent Helix Town Square (or for anyone who has a special nostalgic place in their hearts for cartoons from the early 1980's), the results of the D&DC Christmas Challenge are on display at [livejournal.com profile] seal_girl's site.

The links to the participants and their contributions can be found here.

I, for one, am thrilled beyond words by each one! (Especially my own gifties - one of which is this terrific icon by WhiteVeils.) Prepare for some major gushing from me later! But for now, go! Enjoy them for yourselves!

(I'm reminded yet again that there are some pretty darned talented people in this fandom!)

I've *got* to get to bed, but I wanted to share this with anyone who, like me, is anticipating the premiere of the new Dresden Files series on the Sci Fi Channel.

[livejournal.com profile] priscellie and [livejournal.com profile] kalium were kind enough to collaborate and get the promo uploaded on YouTube.

Looks fantastic! Plus, Priscellie is absolutely right: Paul Blackthorne is *absolutely* tapping his inner James Marsters when doing Harry's voice! Give a listen!

I hope everyone on my flist is having a very nice weekend. Mine is very busy, but it's a good kind of busy: I'm getting things together for the last week of school. (Yay!) I have a few final exams to make and some review material to assemble, but it's the type of work I don't mind doing this late in the year. The upcoming week will be extremely full (class night, graduation, grading, etc.) but it will be worth it to make it to the end. My first year at this new job really was a long one, and while it was good overall, I'm happy to have reached the end.

Other good things:

-- The final round of voting for The Strawberries is up and running, and I was so happy to see that two of my stories made the final cut. (Never Unsaid and Broken Toys, in the Canon Romance and Missing Scene/Episode Based categories.) There are so many other wonderful fics on the list, so, if anyone on my flist enjoys stories in the Firefly fandom and wishes to vote for their favorites, the polls are here.

-- I have a new mood theme! I'm not using it yet (I'm still sort of attached to my Wash theme), but I have it uploaded and it's all kinds of fun! [livejournal.com profile] peaces_icons and [livejournal.com profile] allysonsedai have put together a wonderful Disney-based theme. I couldn't resist -- and I'm sure I'll start using it sometime very soon. Look at the pretty!

High-ho, high-ho. It's back to work I go. :)

For anyone on my flist who might be interested, tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the Zoë/Wash Ficathon being hosted at [livejournal.com profile] wifesoup.

The minimum word count is only 800, so if you've never tried a ficathon before (or if you're not sure you'll have the time), it shouldn't be too demanding.

The more who sign up the better! I'm looking forward to a lot of wonderful stories.
